We stayed in Paihia for about 4 days back in Feb 09. What a beautiful place. We would recomend it as a stopover for anyone visiting NZ-the boat trip around the islands and the dolphin watching was wonderful. We will most definately be back in the not-too-distant future-keep some cold beers ready for us please !

It´s a must seen area of NZ. My visit was in August 2009, an experience of very friendly people e.g. my hosts Margaret & Lou Vilson. Hope to see this beautiful place again soon. Kind regards to the other side of the world.

Hi Stayed in a very nice apartment not far from everything for three nights in late October 08. Really enjoyed this area. A nice quiet area away from the city with plenty to see and do around the water. My ancestors were one of the first European families to arrive here from New South Wales and many of them have stayed in the bay. It was a walk back into their history also and I must come back again to see some of the places that I have missed and must do the Cream Run if still operating.

I was grateful to spend three months in the Paihia Elementary School and live with a local family. I got to experience New Zealand culture everyday in my school and around the community! If you ever get the chance to go to Paihia, you need to interact with the people who live there because they are the friendliest people you will ever meet. I student taught there and I had some of the best students I have ever taught in my life! I will return to Paihia to visit all the families and friends I have met! If you have questions about my travels email me at janaie7@yahoo.com.

I lived in Paihia from 1954 to 1966 it was a wonderful place to be brought up. I am sure that many things have changed since my days there. I hope one day to be able to return and show my son where I had the greatest time of my life. My father was a bricklayer and plasterer and there are many homes he built in the area.

Hello Paihia! Some 20 years ago, in 1980 and 1981 me and my friend Annika from Sweden visited NZ. We spend some wonderful months in Paihia where we worked at Mike´s Pizza, a dariy in the middle of the town near the beach. We stayed with lovley people in a house for backpackers. Unfortunatly I have forgotten all names. Now I am 45 and so happy for Internet. I often think back and dream about those happy days. I have two kids and I hope I will find time and money to take them to Paihia and show them a little bit of my dreams. NZ and Bay of Island is really the most wonderful place on earth! If anyone remember us I would be very happy for e-mail! Anette Blomwvist anette1@blomqvist.nu

We visited New Zealand for a month last May and enjoyed Paihia and the rest of Bay of Islands very much! My girlfriend is working in healthcare and I'm working in IT. Does anyone have any suggestions for us? Abuot where to live, where to work and so on . . . Cheers, see you next autumn! Sander & Martine.
